Advice for Volunteering and Internships
2016-05-18

SAU Advice for Volunteers and Interns aims to support artists who choose to undertake this type of work within the cultural sector. The SAU believe that volunteers and interns should benefit from their experience without sacrificing their rights, skills and professionalism for another person(s) or organisation. Our advice offers factual information; defining what voluntary and internship positions are and explains what rights volunteers and interns are entitled to. It also explains what information should be included in a role description, or contract, as well as giving practical advice; suggesting what to consider before, during and after volunteering or an internship. With the reliance of this workforce in the arts, SAU has also included  a guide for anyone recruiting volunteers or interns to follow best practice. SAU’s Advice for Volunteers and Interns is now available on the SAU website.
